Stephen Covey’s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People was published by Simon & Schuster in 1989, over 36 years ago. Covey’s no longer with us, but the book has shipped over 40 million copies, and elements of it are still quoted to this day, in other self-help literature and on podcasts.
The central idea is that there are 7 core principles of character that define an “effective” person. I think for Covey, this mostly means a salesman (gendered language intended… we’ll get to that in a sec).
